Textile Engineering: not only how to make clothes
The textile engineering is a technology subject, its mission is to make textile fiber as raw material, through various kinds of textile processing process, and eventually produce different kinds of textile machinery parts.
At present, the research frontiers of textile engineering areas include such as: fiber combination optimization technology and natural resources development, such as bamboo into textiles, fiber forming theory, key technology and equipment, (such as research and development "breathing fabrics"), technical textiles design theory and integrated processing technology (such as "wings" spacecraft solar cells) and artificial blood vessels (such as vascular coated stents).
Textile industry is China's "mother industry", after more than half a century of development, it has been the pillar industry of our national economy. Because of its long history, the textile industry was once thought of as a sunset industry. In fact, with the implementation of the national strategy of "One Belt And One Road", the textile industry has maintained a better development momentum. Figures from the national bureau of statistics show that in the first five months of 2017, the above textile enterprises realized profit of 149.5 billion yuan, up 4.8 percentage points from the same period a year ago. The number of textile garments exported to China rose 6.5 percent year-on-year in the first five months of this year, up 3.8 percentage points from a year earlier, according to customs express data. It ended two years of negative growth and achieved positive growth.
In addition, "Internet plus" and e-commerce provide new opportunities for the textile industry. In 2015, the total transaction of China's textile e-commerce is 3 trillion and 700 billion yuan, an increase of 25%, accounting for 20.56% of the total e-commerce transactions nationwide. The booming industry has created more job options for graduates majoring in textile engineering.
